MEMORY WORK: Strengthening the peak events in our life.
Our sense of self, our identity, is forged in our
remembering.
This store house of memories: its richness, its availability, its continuity, is different for each individual. For all of us it provides the foundation and context for the choices we make in the present. Memory loss is a gradual phenomenon. Yet memory can be strengthened through conscious effort and awareness. All of our memories are present, even if weakened over time and can be a source of vitality, joy and a stronger sense of one self. They can be deepened, and clarified to give new meaning to how we relate to our unfolding future.
Transpersonal art therapy offers 3 paths to enriching and deepening our store house of memory.
--- recovering memories: through art therapy, visualization, and sensory enrichment.
---connecting memories: conversation to discover and elaborate the meaning of our memories.
----evaluating memories: giving new weight and value to memories that affect and define our approach to the future,
This work provides support to those who experience memory loss: for individuals with traumatic memories that need to be integrated into a healthy memory continuum: or individuals who have lost the joyful and loving memories that give meaning and vitality to life.
